"It didn’t long for Jason Dufner to benefit from his switch to the Titleist 714 AP2 irons after their release in 2013; he won the PGA Championship in one of his first starts with the new clubs in his bag. The typical learning curve for new irons wasn't necessary, due in part to the incredible forgiveness offered by these compact, player-oriented irons, which boast as much forgiveness as the original, game-improvement AP1 irons. Tungsten weights placed in the toe and the hosel during the forging process allowed for a higher MOI without extending the blade length of these irons, enabling the AP2’s to retain Tour-preferred compactness. These irons are truly the best of both worlds: the forgiveness to ensure consistency even on slight miss-hits, and the workability to nail that precise shape and distance when you need it most.Progressive WeightingThe long irons have a low center of gravity for easier ability to launch higher and carry farther, while the short irons have the CG positioned higher for a flatter, more workable trajectory that most players prefer.Individually Engineered ShapeFrom long irons to short, the faces get progressively thicker while the soles get thinner. This design optimizes the response and turf interaction from every distance.Forged Steel ConstructionMade from soft, 1025 forged carbon steel, the AP2’s offer a buttery soft feel and the pure sound you can only get from forged steel.Cambered Sole, Pre-Worn Leading EdgeMade from soft, 1025 forged carbon steel, the AP2’s offer a buttery soft feel and the pure sound you can only get from forged steel."
